Paintings

The elements that Jean Pierre uses in his paintings reflect processes of urban evolution and the way people become connected to each other through common experiences and references.

Like streets grown organically over time, these elements interact through juxtaposition and ever increasing layers of complexity and history. They also tell many intertwined stories, much like the intertwined stories of people in a street, who may not know each other but are linked through commonality of space and time.

Jean Pierre’s paintings of people are equivalent to these urban integrated places. What often unites the composition is a person: a particular person in a city setting.  This person is at the intersection of all the different elements, each telling their own story - a story that directly relates or peripherally converges to the subject.
